*Left: Interaction with Landmarks, Spontanious Simulation - Valerie LeBlanc, 2013
A funny thing happened on the passageway from the Walker Art Center to the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. While passing through a series of orange walkways with black Keith Haring-esque silhouettes, I felt my own being absorbed into the scene. On that frosty day in late October, the enthusiasm to jump around and to mimic the giant figures on the temporary walkway was momentarily overwhelming.
Même un détour serait correct (translated: ‘Even a detour would be all right’) was a videopoetry and book project. The DVD came out in 2005 and the book was published by the Éditions Prise de Parole in 2006. To differentiate the two components, the book title was Même un détour serait correct and the DVD was called MUDSC. (acronym for the book title)

MUDSC is a poetic expedition into; urban sprawl, gated communities, those private cities of our new world where the fear of the others is pushed to the extreme. Those are the places where surveillance cameras, remotely controlled doors and security guards have become the new necessities of life; life sheltered from life itself. In this topography of conflict there is also the hope to find neutral ground to build upon and/or to rebuild a liveable space.
The DVD contains18 videos poems.
Duration: 32 minutes.
